1955 Bel Air Set to Turn Heads in AMSOIL Display at Car Craft Nationals

FR Bel Air 7This weekend AMSOIL will be on hand at the Car Craft Summer Nationals as the Official Oil, reaching thousands of auto enthusiasts at one of the largest street machine events of its kind. Held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in Milwaukee, Wis., the Car Craft Summer Nationals displays acres of stunning vehicles from all over the world.

One such vehicle is owned by Fritz Reich of Menomonee Falls, Wis. His ’55 Chevy Bel-Air is just one of three vehicles set for prominent display in the AMSOIL booth. His talents are apparent with the attention to detail and technical know-how that went into his build. It even caught the attention of Chevy execs during Reichs’ participation in the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour. That encounter landed him a feature car spot on ‘The Block’, Chevy’s go-to site for the latest news and hottest builds.  Reich counts the Hot Rod Power Tour among his favorite experiences that allowed him to do what he loves best; hit the open road and cruise.

A lifetime enthusiast who got his beginnings early on watching his father drag-race and helping him wrench on cars, Reich holds fond memories of the walks to FR Bel Air 5school during the muscle car era. Those daily walks exposed him to the high school kids that spent their free time cruising the streets and piqued his automotive interests. Today he is a machinist and fabricator by trade, a craft that has served him well in the development of his own project vehicles. Reich himself has constructed many of the parts on his Bel Air over the course of the build, a project that was 2 ½ years in the making.

One special aspect of this particular build is the homage it pays to Chevy’s 50 year (and counting) legacy. This pro-touring Bel Air runs on a ’05 motor and technology with a head-turning ’55 theme. When asked about his favorite vehicle aspect, Reich tells us it’s a mix of “perfect balance between handling, straight line performance and turnkey reliability”. Of course it runs on AMSOIL, of which he has experience using since his own drag-racing days. He credits AMSOIL for protection, consistency and reliable cold-weather starting, a requirement for those living up north in Wisconsin during the frigid winter months.

It’s not every day you see a build like this one that brings both modern and vintage prose, so if you happen to be in the Milwaukee area be sure to attend the Car Craft Summer Nationals for a chance to see it up close and personal. For those who can’t make it, or even if you can, please enjoy the photo gallery below that shows just how far it’s come since Reich began working his magic.

  1. what a nice proper answer Jaimie, I have used Amsoil products since 1975 and am an independent dealer. I prefer Ford cars, however that 55 Belair looks choice.

  2. What’s the ingredients in Amsoil synthetic compared to Mobil 1 full synthetic and how many miles can you get on your oil before changing and is there a special oil filter when you use Amsoil

    1. AMSOIL product formulations are proprietary, but each one is blended with premium base oils and additives for maximum protection and performance. AMSOIL offers three tiers of motor oil: AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil offers 25,000-mile/one-year drain intervals (15,000 miles/one year in severe service), AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil offers 10,000-mile/six-month drain intervals and AMSOIL OE Synthetic Motor Oil offers the option to change oil according to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommendations. Special oil filters are not required, but AMSOIL encourages use of AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters to maximize your vehicle’s performance.
