Bryce Menzies is into breaking records – in a big way. More on that in a second. The 30-year-old short-course racer has many accolades: 2017 AMSOIL Cup winner and 2018 Mint 400 winner, just to name two.

Watch his story below.

We sat down with Bryce Menzies to learn a little more about the veteran off-road driver, both on and off the track. Check out seven things to know about #7 below.

1. He’s got a thing for the number seven

This one’s kind of obvious, but let’s dive a little deeper. It’s his racer number, his anniversary date and even the name of one of his French bulldogs (fittingly, the other is named “Racer”).

2. He can hang 10

Most days you can find Menzies behind the wheel of his race truck (or his Audi R8), but when he gets a chance, #7 loves to surf. His favorite place to catch a wave? Nicaragua.

3. He can also race a UTV

Menzies competed in and finished his first King of the Hammer’s race this year. Finishing an impressive seventh place, he finished ahead of some pretty big names, such as early leader Phil Blurton and Dakar Rally top rookie Casey Currie.

4. He’s tall…really tall

It stands to reason that shorter drivers have an easier time squeezing behind the wheel. Bryce Menzies, however, has to fold his 6′ 3″ frame into his racing truck. Compared to other off-roaders, he isn’t considered normal.

5. He once jumped a truck nearly 400′

Menzies holds the Guinness World Record for longest distance jumped in a truck after launching his truck over a ghost town in Santa Fe, N.M. He crushed the previous record of 332 feet by landing his truck 379.2 feet past the takeoff.

6. He can throw a mean curve ball

Menzies was a standout baseball pitcher through high school. Pitching for Coronado High School in Henderson, Nev., Menzies also graduated with honors.

7. He smashes records

In addition to his Guinness World Record jump, Bryce Menzies holds multiple track records at Crandon International Raceway, including fastest lap in a Pro 4×4 truck, set in 2018. The year prior, Menzies became the first driver in event history to earn the Pro 2wd, Pro 4×4 and AMSOIL Cup Crandon World Championship on the same day.
