Imagine you had a supercharged Duramax 6.6L engine into which you’d invested thousands of hours of engineering, design and development work. What vehicle would be the lucky recipient? That’s the decision that faced Banks Power when the California-based engineering company decided to unveil its forthcoming high-performance diesel crate engine.

You probably wouldn’t have chosen a 1966 Chevy 3/4-ton pickup whose rusty patina invited the name “LokJaw” for its threat of inflicting tetanus. But that’s what the folks at Banks Power chose and, as you can see, the juxtaposition of modern diesel power with that classic mid-60s Chevy outline makes for a perfect combination.

Gale Banks, mastermind of Banks Power, the premier designer and manufacturer of power-enhancing products for diesel- and gas-powered vehicles, unveiled “LokJaw” and its Banks Power supercharged Duramax engine in the AMSOIL booth at SEMA this week.

He also signed autographs and conducted interviews with industry insiders. He’ll be available again on Wednesday, Nov. 3 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Much of the buzz centered on his latest product offering for gearheads and enthusiasts.

Banks Power plans to offer the Duramax diesel engine as a turn-key crate engine producing more than 650 horsepower. In addition to the supercharged version, the company plans to offer twin-turbo and super-turbo variants, too.

“It was great to see our partnership with Banks Power come together at the largest and most influential automotive show in the country,” said AMSOIL Trade Show Manager Patricia Stoll. “After the virtual show last year due to COVID, we were excited to finally get together in person and unveil the latest Banks Power creation.”

AMSOIL products are installed front to back to help “LokJaw” harness all that diesel power and ensure the engine and drivetrain are protected and deliver excellent performance. Check out the graphic to see what products the truck is using.

Gale Banks boasts more than 60 years of experience introducing breakthrough innovations for high-performance gas and diesel engines used to power cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs and marine applications. In fact, the Banks Power D866T engine powers the U.S. Army’s fleet of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV).

The company is also renowned for its performance rear-differential covers that improve cooling, which helps maximize protection and gear-lube life. They even come bundled with AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic Gear Lube for the perfect combination of performance and protection.

We can’t wait to see what Gale Banks has in store next year.
