At AMSOIL, we’re into dirt. Dirt bikes, dirt tracks and gettin’ dirty. Christian Craig of GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda wasn’t initially into dirt, but he sure is now.
Check out more on how he developed into a motocross stalwart.
Not your traditional career
Craig started racing dirt bikes at the age of 10. Son of professional motocross racer Mike “Stingray” Craig, he remembers his dad carrying him up the podium following each win. Prior to the 2010 season, Craig’s bike shut off over a jump during a test ride. The crash broke his L1 through L5 vertebrae. Additional injuries forced Craig to announce his retirement from racing in 2013 and relocate to Minnesota to enter the nine-to-five world. After marrying and having his first child, Jagger, Craig realized he needed to get back into the racing world.
He secured a fill-in spot for an injured rider on the GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda team in 2015. Since then, Craig has never looked back and has made his mark in motocross.
Relying on his wife, son and daughter for support and strength, Craig is a dad and husband first. He attributes where he is today to them.
At the end of the day, after the bike is shut off and the helmet put away, Craig turns into a softy with his family. And his family is there through every step if his racing career, often traveling to watch him race.
AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil for the holeshot
Known for his impressive starts, Craig relies on AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil to get out of the gate.
“With AMSOIL in my bike, my confidence in getting the holeshot is always there.”
AMSOIL Synthetic Dirt Bike Oil underwent extensive on-track testing with the GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda team. Using racer feedback from this testing as well as testing in the lab allowed us to fine-tune the formulation for outstanding wear protection and consistent clutch feel – both of which are crucial for good starts.
Another team favorite? AMSOIL Mudslinger. The team uses it to shine plastic, engine parts, wheels and carbon components on their race bikes. They also spray it under the fenders and on their riding boots to keep mud from sticking.
The GEICO/AMSOIL/Honda trailer heads to Indianapolis, Ind. March 16 for Monster Energy Supercross.
