Mustang Monday: Enthusiast Jim Smart Shares His Favorite Breed of Mustang

JIMG_0253Jim Smart is a former editor of several Mustang magazines who continues to write for enthusiast publications. His long-time history with Mustangs made us eager to learn what his own personal favorite looked like. He replied: “My favorite Mustang is 1967 in all its forms, including Shelby GT350 and GT500. That year Ford changed the Mustang for the better. Wider track. Deep, sculptured lines and scoops. I’ve owned two 1967 Mustangs. Still have my high school 1967 Mustang hardtop. I love the car. My mother gave it to me when I totaled my first Mustang – another 1967 Mustang hardtop.” Smart’s been a Mustang enthusiast since 1973 and an AMSOIL fan as well, currently running AMSOIL in his 1967 289.

Jim has been a Mustang enthusiast since he got that first Mustang in his youth, a 1967 Mustang repainted Dodge Sherwood Metallic Green, equipped with driving lamps. Unfortunately, it was totaled in a rainstorm in September of 1976 when he rear-ended someone and then got rear-ended himself.

Today is Mustang Monday because we’re giving away a 1972 Mach 1 Mustang. 1972 was a great year for AMSOIL. It’s the year we introduced the world’s first synthetic motor oil to meet American Petroleum Institute service requirements. Beyond that, this car represents the unbridled power and performance of the muscle car era. These cars unite car lovers from all generations and all walks of life. They speak to the gearhead in all of us. Auto enthusiasts are our kind of people, and we celebrate them with this giveaway. Be sure to enter our Devoted to Protection Sweepstakes after you review the photos Jim Smart submitted. It’s easy to see why Mustangs are Jim’s passion. Once you own this pony, Mustangs might become yours as well.
