Are you in the holiday spirit? The season is bustling, and everyone is burning the candle at both ends. There’s no time to waste, especially stuck on the side of the road from frozen diesel fuel in your car or truck. Are you prepared?
What if I told you AMSOIL has a product that provides as much as 32ºF better protection against cold-temperature diesel fuel gelling than Howes Lubricator Diesel Treat*? You know – Howes, one of the largest diesel fuel additive companies in the U.S.
Are you listening now? I thought so.
What causes frozen diesel fuel?
Diesel fuel naturally contains a beneficial waxy material, provided it remains liquid. As the temperature drops, however, the wax solidifies into a snow-cone-like material, like what your kids eat at the state fair. Your fuel system will struggle to pump this material, eventually starving the engine of fuel and leaving you stranded. The video below shows how frozen diesel fuel can clog your fuel filter.
The fuel refineries do a pretty good job of blending winter-rated diesel fuel that avoids gelling. But they typically base the rating of the fuel on temperature projections that don’t leave room for sudden and violent temperature swings. If you find yourself checking the weather on your phone and the outlook calls for blustery, cold temps, it’s possible the fuel at the station where you plan to fill up the next morning doesn’t yet have fuel blended for the temperatures in the forecast.
Why tempt fate? There are better options, and AMSOIL has the chemistry to protect your vehicle and your schedule from drastic setbacks.
Let’s be smarter and turn the mirror on ourselves. There is chemistry available that ensures the wax in your fuel stays liquid so your fuel system can pump fuel to the engine. We call these additives cold-flow improvers, and AMSOIL Diesel All-In-One is loaded with them to ensure you don’t run into these issues.
So how are we better than Howes, you ask?
In the fuel industry there is a test called the Cold-Filter-Plugging-Point Test. It measures the coldest temperature at which fuel will flow without plugging a filter. In independent testing, AMSOIL Diesel All-In-One repeatedly flowed at temperatures up to 32ºF colder than the Howes product*. That is a substantial difference in performance when it matters most.
Some might say, “That doesn’t matter…Howe’s has a free-tow guarantee that’ll cover me if I’m ever stranded.” That’s no guarantee; that’s an insurance policy, and they hope not to use it. If you want a real guarantee, use AMSOIL Diesel All-In-One to ensure you don’t have to call for a tow.
More than excellent cold-flow
AMSOIL Diesel All-In-One doesn’t just give you optimum chemistry for cold weather. Oh, no sir/ma’am. It also delivers…
- Optimum detergency to help keep the fuel injectors and combustion chamber clean
- Lubricity to lubricate the fuel pump and injectors
- A four-point cetane boost to provide extra help at startup and improve combustion efficiency for improved power and fuel economy
Diesel All-In-One gives you the best chemistry on the market at a concentration that makes a difference.
If you’re like most, you look for opportunities to make life easier. When the temperature dips below freezing, treat your diesel fuel with AMSOIL Diesel All-In-One for the protection your vehicle and your pocketbook need.
