To demonstrate AMSOIL protection, a 2017 Scout was strapped to the dyno for 20,000 miles (32,000 km) of simulated real-world riding. The oil was changed at 20,000 miles, (32,000 km), double the manufacturer’s 10,000-mile (16,000-km) recommendation.
At the end of 20,000 miles (32,000 km), the engine was torn down and the pistons, cylinders and cams were scrutinized for wear.
Despite the additional 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on the oil, AMSOIL protected pistons, cylinders and cams against wear and helped retain like-new condition.
