AMSOIL 2018 Year in Review (Part 1)

The time has come to reflect on the happenings of the previous year while looking forward to the promise of a new one. 2018 brought a bevy of new beginnings in the form of new racing partnerships, event sponsorships and even a revolutionary take on product packaging that other companies are sure to follow.

In conjunction with our resident racing expert, Lindsay Premo, we compiled an overview of 2018 highlights. Check out where we’ve been and what we’ve been up to the past year. And stay tuned for even more to come in 2019.

March

The world-famous Daytona Beach in Daytona, Fla., greeted thousands of bikers from around the country for Daytona Bike Week. As the Official Oil of this historic event heading into its 78th year, the AMSOIL crew was on site to welcome riders for a week of soaking up the sun with fellow motorcyclists of all stripes.

April

An unofficial start to car-show season began with the Spring Carlisle event in Carlisle, Pa., which drew thousands of folks to the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Several other events took place throughout summer and fall that focused on specific segments, including Ford, Corvette, Import Tuner, Truck and others. As the Official Oil of Carlisle Events, we here at AMSOIL share a passion for all things automotive-related that fellow spectators are there to see.

May

AMSOIL announced a renewed partnership with Menzies Motorsports. AMSOIL initially partnered with Bryce Menzies and his team when he was competing in the TORC Series. This partnership was announced just prior to the 50th running of the Baja 500 where Menzies would go on to take fourth in Vegas 2 Reno. He also took home a win in Crandon, Wis. at the 49th annual Crandon World Cup Championships.

June

We welcomed Jerry Dixey and members of the 2018 Street Rodder Road Tour to the AMSOIL Center in Superior, Wis. Leading the tour in a 1932 Ford pickup, Dixey and 32 accompanying street rods made a grand entrance to the Northland on their way to the Back to the 50’s event in St. Paul, Minn. After 23 years, Jerry Dixey continues working the best job ever touring the country in fully restored street rods with fellow enthusiasts while writing about his travels.

The Diesel Power Challenge commenced at the famous Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. Winner Kody Pulliam bested the competition in his 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, featuring a compound-turbocharged 6.6L Duramax V-8 engine capable of 900 hp. The 95th Annual Laconia Motorcycle Week kicked off in Laconia, N.H. The world’s oldest motorcycle rally drew thousands of bikers to ride among the scenic backdrop of New Hampshire. AMSOIL was again on hand as the Official Oil of the rally, conducting oil changes and meeting with spectators new and old.

July

AMSOIL celebrated 45 years as the leader in synthetic lubrication technology with its 45th anniversary convention. We welcomed hundreds of AMSOIL Dealers to Duluth, Minn., for a week of product training, networking, the AMSOIL Festival and the President’s Dinner. Dealers also received a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-revealed SEVERE GEAR easy pack, which would go on to win a SEMA Global Media Award.

Whew! As you can see, so far it’s been an eventful year. Let’s take a break and reconvene tomorrow for a recap of the second half of 2018.
